IBI's management has extensive experience in the commercialization of innovative technologies in the pharmaceutical, research and diagnostic markets.
David A. Yost, Ph.D. — President and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Yost become company’s CEO in 2009, having served as Vice President of R & D since 2008, as vice president of R & D he managed the development of IVD solutions for the Infectious Disease market, as well as providing the company with scientific leadership to drive new product development. Prior to joining IBI he was Vice President of R & D for the Biostar and Binax Divisions of Inverness Medical Innovations. Prior to Inverness Medical Innovations, Dr. Yost held key management R & D and business development positions with Abbot Laboratories, Igen Inc., Celis International and Tecan. He has developed and management the development of over 60 diagnostic assays and shepherd these products through FDA approval process. Dr. Yost has published over 30 peer reviewed scientific papers and has been the inventor of 10 issued U.S. patents. Dr. Yost received his B.S. in chemistry from Juniata College and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. His postdoctoral fellowship was with the National Institutes of Health.
W. Rigg Mohler, Jr. — Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Mohler has over 17 years of senior financial and operations experience. As a financial advisor to emerging organizations, Mr. Mohler oversees financial reporting and administration and assists with strategic planning, business models, acquisitions and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Clients in the biotechnology industry include Advancis Pharmaceuticals and Sequoia Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Mohler recently served as CFO of Whereoware LLC, an early stage software company. Previously, Mr. Mohler worked in corporate finance for Danaher Corporation and subsequently was appointed VP of Finance of a newly acquired manufacturing subsidiary. Mr. Mohler began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in its audit and real estate consulting practices. Mr. Mohler holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the College of William and Mary and is a certified public accountant.
Graham Jack, Ph.D. — Director of Research
Dr. Jack joined IBI in September 2008 and brings over 12 years of diversified cellular, molecular and medical research and development experience which includes work with a vast array of mammalian cell types, creation and development of a variety of cell culture systems and media preparations. Prior to joining IBI, Dr. Jack held a research position at the Johns Hopkins Medical School where he focused on the cellular signaling of B-cell differentiation. He possesses a strong background in novel genetically engineered cell line creation involved in antibody and receptor expression, preservation, stability, and cell signaling. He has been the author of 10 peer reviewed publications. Dr. Jack holds a HBSc in pharmacology from the University of Western Ontario and a PhD in biochemistry from Virginia Tech.
Sarah Campion, M.S. — Associate Director of Assay Development/Clinical Trial Manager
Mrs. Campion who has over 9 years of broad microbiology experience joined Innovative Biosensors in June 2007. Prior to joining the IBI scientific team as the senior microbiologist, Mrs. Campion was a member of the MR4 Center responsible for maintaining Malaria stocks and monoclonal antibody production for ATCC, a non-profit biological resource center and research organization. Prior to that Mrs. Campion held several scientific positions of increasing responsibility at BioSET, a company focusing on biomimetic growth factor peptides useful in surgical implants for musculoskeletal surgery. She is the co-inventor of 3 US patents and has been the author of several publications and abstracts. Mrs. Campion holds a BS in animal science and a MS in microbiology from Washington State University.
P. Jeanette Simpson, Ph.D. — Director of System Integration
Dr. Simpson who joined IBI in July of 2006 has over 17 years of diversified management, production and research/development experience in biochemistry, cGMP manufacturing, technology transfer to manufacturing, organic synthesis, QA, in vitro diagnostics, biodefense pathogen detection, instrument development and research experience in cancer and neuroscience. Prior to joining Innovative Biosensors, Dr. Simpson held a senior research position in the Neuroscience Department at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute. Before that she held a senior scientific position at Sepratech, an in vitro diagnostic company, where she set up a cGMP manufacturing process, optimized stability of IVD products and developed assays to determine levels of toxins produced during production. Dr. Simpson has also held scientific positions at the University of Arizona Cancer Center and Neuroscience Department. Her Post-doctoral work was completed at Johns Hopkins Medical Institute. She has been the primary or co-author of 15 peer reviewed publications. Dr. Simpson holds a BS in Chemistry from University of the Central States and a PhD in Biochemistry and Neuroscience from the University of Arizona.
Rick Fleming — Director of Business Development and Marketing
Mr. Fleming joined IBI in October 2009 and brings over 22 years of global diversified management and corporate development experience within the biotechnology, diagnostics and life sciences sector. He has closed over 200 transactions. Prior to joining IBI, Mr. Fleming was a business development consultant to Phytomyco, a nutraceutical and early stage pharmaceutical company, Progentech, an early stage clinical diagnostic company, IBI and Sigma Aldrich (SIAL). Prior to that he was Manager of Acquisitions and Strategic Collaborations at Sigma Aldrich. Prior to Sigma Aldrich he was Director of Business Development at Genosys Biotechnologies, a manufacturer and distributor of life science research products. Prior to that he was a marketing consultant to Eppendorf AG, a manufacturer and distributor of devices used in life science research laboratories. Prior to Eppendorf AG he was Manager of Business Development and Sales for Perceptive Scientific Instruments, a manufacturer of digital imaging systems used in laboratories and prior to that he was a consultant to Wingate Partners and Callier Interest, private equity firms. Mr. Fleming holds BS degrees in chemistry and biology from the University of Miami.
